5 Factors of an Effective Social Media Management

But now in this article, we are going to discuss the factors that make a social media campaign effective. This is important to know because your efforts will be fruitless without them. 


As tradies and business owners, we know that each marketing tactic and strategy has a corresponding cost, small or big so it is important to always have a return on investment. So in order to achieve that, we have listed down the factors that will lead to the success of your social media accounts.  

1. Identify Your Audience

Social media platforms have different audiences so it is important to identify your niche market first. It is considered the more the better but when your goal is to have more sales, it is best to target a smaller audience that is actually interested in your business. A bigger and wider audience works when your goal is to just boost awareness. Identifying the right niche market or audience will make the posts more effective in bringing more sales and leads to the business.  

2. Identify Which Platform to Use

Nowadays, there are countless social media platforms available for use to business owners. The most common platforms are Twitter, Facebook and Instagram but there are others such as Reddit, Tumblr, and Pinterest. Each of these platforms has its own purposes though they also have similar features. 


Identifying each platform’s uses and the demographic that use these platforms, can help in consolidating what content to post on a particular platform. For instance, tradesmen like plumbers can post before and after photos on Instagram to directly show the work they do. 

3. Master the Messaging 

After identifying the market and social media platforms to utilise, it is time to master your messaging. The messaging elevates your branding. It means that the text and the graphics (photos and videos) should align to how you want people to view you as a business entity. It is important to be consistent, while still being fresh and vibrant.


There are several ways to tweak a copy while relaying the same message across different platforms. Again, different platforms, different audiences.  

4. Consider the timing

Time is also important when posting on social media. There are instances when the time will be the battleground of which post will have more engagement. The first thing to identify in terms of time is when your audience is the most active. This requires research and testing. But once tracked you can be consistent.


The second timing factor you should consider is the length of videos posted. Nowadays, with people’s attention span getting shorter, video duration is also being cut. According to marketing professionals, 10, 15, and 30-second videos with the right content are the most effective to achieve brand awareness and increase sales. 

5. Be Active and Consistent

Lastly, it is best to be active and consistent in social media. We recommend (and can assist in) creating a monthly calendar to keep you on track and consistent with the posts you are about to publish within the month. Also, try to be as quick as possible in responding to inquiries on social media. Some people become hesitant to send a message because the page of the business is not active in posting updates, so they may think they are closed or not operating.
